Course Description:

The course objectives for Praktikum Telematik (UnivIS# 99030) include (but are not limited to) the following:

The course is organized as several independent projects, each consisting of 3~4 students (you have to choose a project and your co-worker by your own):

Project 1: Implementation and Unit Tests of a HTTP 1.0 Server

Project 2: Implementation of an RTSP-based media player (client) & server with player controls. Show your results by displaying some media (e.g., audio, mpeg movie). Additionally, provide adaptive playback mechanism based on the observed delay between the client and server (e.g. if you can see that congestion is slowing/losing packets, switch to a lower-quality, lower-bandwidth version of the media file).

For each projects students are required to organize the work effectively according to the streamline of a realistic project, including  milestones (task and time allocation, deliverables) definition, implementation and revision, reports of design, implementation, test results and intermediate results etc. Each project will elect a project leader who should be responsible for directing and regularly reporting the overall progress of the team.

Prerequisite: Computer Networks course or equivalent
