Course Description

Principles and basic understaning of computer networking. Topics include: the structure and components of computer networks, protocols and formal specification methods, packet switching, layered architectures, TCP/IP, error control, window flow control, local area networks, network layer, flow control and congestion control, Quality of Service, voice over IP, and security, and other current research topics.
 
After this course students should have good understanding of networking principles. 

Prerequisites

Computer Science I, II; basic familiarity with queueing theory and socket programming.

First lecture: October 27, 2003

Final examination: March 1, 2004

Please, register at Munopag for the final exam before the last lecture on February 2, 2004. By that deadline you will have to decide whether to participate in the final exam this semester.
